It sheds its leaves in winter. It has fruits in the form of spiky balls, and the seed inside the fruit is a chestnut. It is not naturally found in Türkiye. It is cultivated as an ornamental tree for parks and gardens. Kışın yapraklarını döker. Dikenli toplar şeklinde meyvesi vardır ve bu meyvenin çekirdeği kestanedir. Türkiye'de doğal olarak bulunmaz. Park ve bahçeler için süs bitkisi olarak yetiştirilir.
